Friday 16th & Saturday 17th June

On Friday 16th and Saturday 17th June 2023, Embassy Gardens will bring together a collective of Irish creatives to celebrate the uniquely Irish event, Bloomsday. We are delighted to be co-hosting here at Darby's.

Bloomsday is a celebration centred around James Joyce’s Ulysses, traditionally hosted in Dublin in Robin's home town of Glasthule where the idea to bring it to London originated. Bloomsday at Embassy Gardens will be a two-day event, hosting a range of performances, from spoken word to music and beyond.

Saturday 17th June will see a day of outdoor festivities across Embassy Gardens from 12pm-9pm, including a pop-up market, bars, Irish dancing, live music, and authors and musicians performing readings, including a words and music performance from Irish singer-songwriter Imelda May featuring Niall McNamee, who will be closing the Saturday at 8:30PM on the outdoor stage. Official event partner Jameson Irish Whiskey will host a special Jameson bar serving cocktails. This is a free event but spaces are limited so please register here.

Friday’s launch event will be a one of a kind breakfast hosted by Robin with performances from Seanchoíche, a storytelling collective which originated in Dublin and now hosts storytelling evenings worldwide. Our friend Simon of Rocks Oysters will be shucking Ireland's finest from early doors and we'll have live trad music throughout.

On the Friday and Saturday evening, we will be offering a set four-course menu highlighting Irish produce and with dishes inspired by passages from the book.

Across the two days, we will be offering an extensive snack menu and specials in our bar and on the terrace. There will be live music and performances throughout. We will also be hosting the afterparty on Saturday evening!
